We also have rare early editions of
some Charlotte Zolotow books which were later reissued with
different illustrations, and some foreign editions of books by both
Zolotows and Dragonwagon. (Left,

Charlotte's best loved, but hardest to find titles! But,

Who we are
Charlotte Zolotow,
a children's book writer and editor / publisher
emeritus at HarperCollins, was married to the late Hollywood biographer
/ freelance magazine writer Maurice Zolotow. They had two children, a
son and daughter.
Stephen Zolotow
is a world renowned
poker player. But
Crescent Dragonwagon, once Ellen Zolotow
(see
Is That Your Real Name?) loosely followed the family tradition by
becoming a writer. Like her mother, she writes children's books; like
her father, she writes magazine articles and the occasional novel, and,
unlike either of them, she also writes cookbooks.
This literary family included, by marriage, the late
Ned Shank,
who was married to Crescent for 23 years. Shank's first book,
The Sanyasin's First Day
was published
in 1999, while an essay of his appeared in the book Sentinels of
History.
Like most writers, the extended Zolotow-Dragonwagon clan is pretty
